I'm Lovin' It

Our church began a new Bible School curriculum, Engraving Heavenly Truths, a few weeks ago.  EHT focuses on the Bible and less on coloring and cute activities.  By the time our children graduate from High School, they will have studied through the entire Bible 4 times!  The program also has flash cards that students take home to study with their parents.  I LOVE this part of the program the best.  I think that parental involvement is important in school, so why should it not be more important in Bible school?  We have officially started this curriculum for students first grade and up.  Matthew is in the 4 and 5 year old class, so he is not participating in the curriculum.  I was extremely impressed with Matthew's teacher, Sandy Caylor, when last Sunday he came home with home made flash cards.  She took the time to make flash cards for all of her students that have some of the same facts on them as the flash cards in the EHT curriculum.  She has been studing facts with them also, because Matthew came home from class knowing how many books are in the Bible, the two main divisions of the Bible, and what the word Bible means.  On top of being impressed, I was thankful that Matthew has such a loving teacher that cares so much about him and his soul. Michael and I are both teaching EHT.  Before the curriculum started, we, as a group of teachers, decided upon some goals for our students during the first quarter.  One of the main goals is that every student will be able to recite the books of the Old Testament.  When we decided on this goal, Michael and I thought it would be a good idea to start working on this with Matthew.  I am happy to say that he now knows the books of the Old Testament.  When he says them, he sings them, but I can recite them and he can pick up where I leave off.  As he gets older, we will definately work on just reciting them without singing, but for now...I'm loving this...

We are so proud of him!  Life is good.

My Little Fish

My boys LOVE to swim.  One of Miles' first words was pool.  Miles has always been fearless when it came to the water.  Matthew was a little more conservative at first, but lately he embraced his inner fish.  He said he wanted to swim without his floaties on about 2 weeks ago.  Since then, he has been swimming non stop.  He is now swimming underwater!  My boys amaze me every day...

Family Vacation 2010

We went on out Annual Rogers’ Family Vacation to Helen, GA with Michael’s family. Matthew and Miles were so excited to spend an entire week with their cousins.
Matthew loving on Brodie.  I wish he was this sweet to his brother!  :)

Miles and Brodie playing behind the blinds!

But their favorite place to play was inside the TV cabinet.

Yummy popcicles.

The favorite hangout for the week was definitely the pool! As soon as the kiddos woke up in the mornings they started asking when we were going swimming.

It is suprising how exhausting a "relaxing" vacation can be!  We had a blast, but we were definately ready to come home.
